Aims and Scope (from publisher):
The mission of the Office of Student Research (OSR) is to facilitate the engagement of students in scholarly activity related to their disciplines by providing resources that support both student scholars and faculty mentors. The OSR mission is to enrich the academic experience of all CSUSB undergraduate and graduate students by providing research and creative activities in their chosen field. In fulfilling part of our mission, we established the OSR Journal of Student Research, a centralized biannual online peer-reviewed journal to foster academic dialogue, to promote an opportunity for undergraduate and graduates to publish their scholarly and creative works, as well as to provide a valuable learning experience. Each volume will include a variety of original research articles, poetry, short stories, book reviews and digital artwork, as well as the proceedings and a collection of the best articles from this annual “Meeting of the Minds” Student Research Symposium. It is important for students to conduct research and be able to publish their findings. Research not only bridges the gap between knowledge and experience but also has the benefit of laying the groundwork for career exploration and development. For students, publishing in a research journal has lifetime benefits, such as refining their communication skills, enhancing their resume and editing their research precisely. Conducting research shows the ability of the student to critical think, to communicating clearly, and complete difficult tasks. Having these lifetime benefits and abilities will increase their chances of admittance to a respectable graduate or postgraduate school and finding prestigious employment in their field.
