Abstract

Most intentional burns are scalds, infant sudden death and repeated injuries. Infants and toddlers are the common victims. Injury severity score is higher in intentional accidents, specially scalds and head trauma. Some risk factors are well identified. Distinguishing these from unintentional causes is challenging. The use of an evidence based triage tool to aid in distinguishing intentional from unintentional is suggested.
