Abstract

Traumatology is an old specialty, and most knowledge about it was developed during wars. On the other hand, burn care is much more recent and knowledge has been acquired in particular from civilian disaster casualties. This paper aims to describe some of the disasters that led to progress in burn care.

Vernacular Abstract

Si la traumatologie est ancienne et a vu beaucoup de ses progrès se développer lors de conflits, la brûlologie est beaucoup plus récente et a essentiellement progressé à l’occasion de catastrophes « civiles ». Cet article a pour but de recenser quelques catastrophes ayant donné lieu à des études ayant fait avancer la brûlologie.
