Abstract

The relationship between frequency of temazepam misuse and violent or disorderly behaviours was examined, controlling for psychological state, other substance use and sociodemographics in logistic regression equations. The subjects were residents of projects accommodating the young, single homeless in Scotland. A semi-structured questionnaire eliciting retrospective self-reports of substance misuse and other behaviours was administered. Temazepam use was related to violence and getting into trouble with the police. IV temazepam was related to collapsing or becoming unconscious, as was opiate use, which was also related to emergency medical treatment, accidents & injuries and breaking/damaging things.
