Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To explore the suicide attitude and influencing factors of college students in Shandong Province and to provide reference information for suicide intervention.

METHODS:Adopting the method of stratified stochastic cluster sampling, 1413 students from seven universities of Shandong were surveyed by Suicide Attitude Questionnaire, Social Support Scale and the basic status questionnaire.

RESULTS: The analysis results showed that the average score of Suicide Attitude Questionnaire was ( 2.94 ± 0.71).The important influencing factors of college students suicide attitude were grade, gender, singleton, the relationship with their parents, life-styles and social support.

CONCLUSION: Most college students held contradictory or neutral attitude toward sui-cide.There were differences in different dimensions of suicide attitude among undergraduates with different characteristics.Social support was closely related to suicidal attitude of college students.
