Abstract

As issues on bicycle safety and promotion have been discussed in these days, the importance of intersection design for bicycles has been recognized because 70% of bicycle accidents occur at intersections. The technical studies, however, on the design of intersections where bicycles run on carriageway have not been carried out well. The authors organized to study group of researchers and practitioners and issued a technical guideline. The background, the process, in the contents mainly discussed in the study group, and the future problems are described in this paper.
