Abstract

Safety and relief in transport stations had been ensured through only the prevention occupational accidents, However safe and reliable use of railway facilities for the elderly and disabled has been required since the Barrier-Free Transportation Act was enforced in 2006. In addition to safety, security has also been required since the 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States. Consequently the meaning of safety and relief of stations has been extended and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has taken measures based on these various societal demands
