Abstract

Misidentification and ingestion of a toxic mushroom as an edible species could lead to mushroom poisoning. Karvellas et al. have comprehensively described the characteristics and outcomes of patients with liver insufficiency caused by mushroom poisoning in the US (1, 2). These cases are unusually rare in the US, but in countries where mushroom consumption is common, it is a major entity of toxic plant exposure to encounter in the clinic.
