Abstract

This study investigated the effects of training two learning and behavior disordered students to ignore the inappropriate behavior and to reinforce the appropriate behavior of three learning and behavior disordered peers. Dependent measures included the percent of appropriate and inappropriate contacts made by target students to peer managers. A multiple baseline design across students was used to evaluate the effects of peer manager responses on target student behaviors. An analysis of results indicated that special education peer managers could be taught to utilize extinction and reinforcement procedures to increase their peers' appropriate behaviors and to reduce their inappropriate behaviors.
