Abstract

The phenomenon known as modern or contemporary slavery constitutes a reality of difficult apprehension about which the community has become aware through the establishment of its parallels to traditional slavery. Firstly, in this study we analyze its features, its forms and its magnitude. Secondly, a concept of modern slavery is established while it is sought the reflection of this reality in normative concepts contained in international legal instruments, such as those of servitude or forced labour. Finally, we address the question of whether our legal system incriminates sufficiently this type of behaviors, taking into consideration how this phenomenon is addressed in comparative law.
