Abstract

This paper analses the outcomes achieved by the implementatios of policies that criminalized prostitution. In the United States such a policy was implemented together with an abolitionist model on human trafficking. Both the ideological base of such combined strategy and the results of its implementations are axamined. Moreover, the situation generated by the enactment of the Sex Purchase Act in Sweden is also analysed. This particular case is taken as a paradigmatic application of the neoabolitionist logic that looks on prostitution as a display of gender violence. Finally, the current situation in Spain is taken under consideration both from the legal and criminal justice policy prespectives. As it regrads tothis final matter, the idea is to interpret the regulation of some existing criminal offences in order to avoid the assunption of a proposals of such kind are explained. (English)
