Abstract

The article examines the ways in which the issue of poverty are spread in international juridical discourses on human trafficking in developing countries. It also offers views on the factors of poverty and trafficking from field research on prostitution and migration in Mumbai, India that was conducted from 2002 to 2003. The author suggests ways in which legion income generating strategies such as trading sexual services, construction work, may be distinct yet related and mutually constituted.
