Weather and its impact on road safety has been observed for many decades; the observation results gained in various regions differ. The same meteorological phenomena can be of remarkable influence on road safety in certain areas while insignificant in others. In the frame of a study described in this article, the data prepared by the Brno-Turany (Czech Republic) meteorological station were utilized for an examination of selected phenomena impacts on the number and their consequences of road traffic accidents in Brno and its surroundings. The results showed that more accidents occur during hot sultry days; the injury rate is higher during snowing and it is lower on days with storms and mists. The severity of accidents is higher on rainy or misty days.
