Abstract

The recent 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination and the never ending debate about the 'magic' bullet of the Warren Commission's Single Bullet Theory (SBT) have served as the stimulus for this article. To this day there are many who find it hard, if not impossible, to believe that one bullet could pass through two individuals and remain intact and essentially pristine. This view may also be held by some, perhaps many, forensic pathologists, criminalists and firearms examiners. This article will take the reader through a step-by-step analysis of the 'magic' bullet, its seemingly amazing journey and an evaluation and interpretation of its physical condition with the end result that there is nothing magic about the 'magic' bullet once one acquires an understanding of this novel bullet's exterior, terminal and wound ballistic properties.
