Abstract

A Canadian legal scholar recommends that a better system of victim restitution could aid in the dual purpose of criminal law-deterrence and rehabilitation. The author suggests that if criminals were forced to repay victims, crime would be less profitable and therefore be deterred, and that compensating victims could have a rehabilitative effect on the criminal.
