Abstract

College-aged women on campuses across the country are "literally under attack." Mr. Thomas echoes what college professors, administrators, and campus life professionals are all too familiar with--the fact that college campuses are among the places where women are most likely to be raped, not to mention sexually harassed and/or stalked. Noting the particularly egregious murder of a female student at the hands of her former partner, a fellow student at the University of Virginia, Mr. Thomas serves up a disturbing array of statistics on campus violence, summing up the discussion on a hopeful note, with a list of recommendations considered best practices for decreasing campus violence.
