Abstract

People typically think of battering as something perpetrated by one intimate partner against another, usually within the private confines of the home. But as bullying expert and attorney Patricia G. Barnes notes, the dynamics driving batterers to harm those they (supposedly) love are the same ones that compel some abusers to inflict similar abusive campaigns against people inside the workplace. Fortunately, there is much more being written about workplace bullying these days, even in comparison with 10 or 15 years ago; unfortunately, most of that information is being disseminated in places outside the U.S. Only recently have the alarm bells that have been sounding for years about workplace bullying in Australia, Britain, Canada, and other countries begun to reach the ears of people in the U.S.
