Abstract

The study, which was conducted at Barangay Carmen, Barangay Cogon, Barangay Macabalan which has fire substations and Gaisano Mall with its Fire Brigade in Cagayan de Oro, would delve into an analysis of the level of the effectiveness of the fire prevention campaign of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Cagayan de Oro City. It focused on the four major components. (1) Specifically, this study sought to answer what is the extent of the implementation of the firefighting and prevention strategies in terms of Behavioral Dimension, Education Component, Enforcement Component and Engineering Component; (2) What is the perception of the residents and stakeholders on fire safety well -being?; and (3) What is the significance of firefighting and prevention strategies in the daily routine of the Fire Fighters and residents? In answering these problems, the researchers used the descriptive design. The respondents were purposely sampled, several common persons who are residing and working at the four districts of Cagayan de Oro. The principal instrument for the data collection used is the modified questionnaire of the Bureau of Fire Protection personally administered by the researchers. The data gathered were statistically treated with sample percentage distribution and analysis of variance. In conclusion, majority of the respondents in overall weighted mean in the extent of the implementation of the firefighting and prevention strategies in terms of Education Component show that in that component, there is a high satisfaction of the stakeholders and enhance their cooperation to the firefighting and prevention strategies by the Bureau of Fire Protection. The data shows that the firefighting and prevention strategies are highly satisfactory for the stakeholders and made them fire safety well -being and more cooperative in the launching of firefighting and prevention campaigns.
