Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the police disciplinary mechanisms in Cagayan de Oro City. This study sought to determine the rank profile of the respondents, the effectiveness of the police disciplinary mechanisms as perceived by the respondents and the significant difference of the respondents' perception on the effectiveness of the police disciplinary mechanisms when they are grouped according to their rank. In answering these problems, the descriptive method of research was used in this study. It is a fact finding study with sufficient and accurate interpretation of findings. It emphasizes the essentials in a current condition, practices, situation, and phenomena. The respondents were purposely sampled, fifty(50) respondents coming from different police precincts with forty(40) Police Non-Commissioned officers, and 10 Police Commissioned officers. In conclusion, majority of the respondents in overall weighted mean that the Police Commissioned officers are very effective in terms of giving disciplinary mechanisms to their respective police officers. The data revealed that the Police Commissioned officers are highly strict in the implementation of the laws, rules and regulation in order for the Police officers to perform their job well and avoid do illegal activities.
