Abstract

This paper deals with the problem of compting the (un)reliability/(un)availability of a coherent system, for example a coherent fault tree, based on the minimal cut sets. Computing methods for some component importance measures are also discussed. A new computer program, ERAC, is reported. This program can calculate system (un)reliability/(un)availability and some component importance measures under the assumption of independent components. The program uses a recent developed algorithm for exact calculations by Aven.1 In addition, the Min-Max bounds on the system (un)reliability/(un)availability for associated components can be computed.
