Abstract

A new methodology for the construction of fault tree is developed. The methodology is based on fault tree modules constructed for different types of component circuits and stored in a module library.

The modules are developed for nuclear reactor safety system applications.

The methodology has been implemented into the CAFTS (computer-aided fault tree synthesis) computer code written in PL/1 language.

This code enables fault trees of large systems to be constructed interactively with the computer, so that a more accurate and faster analysis of the system reliability can be performed.
