Abstract

A comprehensive quantitative treatment is presented to incorporate the execution time concept into a wide variety of software reliability models. Basic equations of software reliability modelling have been given in terms of execution time T and operational time t. Apart from Musa's original execution time model, it has been found possible to incorporate execution time into the following models: (1) the Jelinski-Moranda model, (2) the Shick-Wolverton model, (3) the Shooman model, (4) the Weibull, model, (5) the Jelinski-Moranda geometric (JMG) model, (6) the reliability growth model and (7) the pragmatic model of Wall and Ferguson. Making use of the basic equations, reliability parameters for all the models have been derived in a unified manner.
