Abstract

The steady rise in post-menopausal osteoporosis makes it a significant public health problem. The knowledge of risk factors of the illness may allow for developing preventive strategies to implement. Many studies have shown that alcohol consumption is associated with osteoporosis or with fractures, when combined either with falls or poor nutrition. Yet, recent publications have shown that alcohol consumption is associated with a greater bone mass among menopausal women. But there is not much literature relative to this risk factor, and what does exist, is contradictory. This article aims at synthesising the information published on this subject.
