Abstract

A Federal jury rejected inmate Michael Blucker's claims that prison officials at the Menard (IL) Correctional Center repeatedly ignored his claims that he was being raped by fellow prisoners. In Blucker v. Washington, the jury deliberated only 90 minutes before finding no liability on the part of either the staff psychiatrist or the officer heading the internal investigation. A prison official noted that Blucker described the sex as consensual and rejected several offers of protective custody.
