Abstract

Extracorporeal haemoperfusion is indicated in the treatment of severe intoxication with sleeping-drugs (including barbiturates) if other methods have failed. Four patients in whom haemoperfusion was used (attempted suicide with hypnotics, grade III-IV and IV severity) were successfully resuscitated without permanent sequelae.
