Abstract

In view of violence, whether it is family violence or more specifically marital violence, it is essential to get a description of the facts from the free speech of the victim, through a non-directive and non-evocative cross-examination. It is only once this pre-condition is scrupulously respected that we can use the evaluation of the intervention context, of the type of interaction between the protagonists, and of the victim's way of response, to fill in an evaluation grid which allows to locate the more dangerous situations and then will help to make a decision on the way of intervention. Every professional can use this grid, the only condition being minimum information and training about family violence and about the evaluation method. In France, the Délégation aux droits des femmes et à 1'égalité is the most able State service to organize these trainings. This grid will be added into the judicial information sent by the police to the judge. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved) (journal abstract)
