Abstract

FMS scores at or below 14 points have been associated with an increase risk of injury. The multivariate model developed in this study helps to inform the clinician about the underlying clinical measures that are predictive of FMS performance. Future research should assess if improvements in these measures are associated with improvements in FMS performance. MILITARY/CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Musculoskeletal injures are a primary source of disability in the US military. Lower extremity prevention programs are necessary to reduce the impact of musculoskeletal injury. The FMS has been found to be predictive of injury; however there is scant evidence about its association with other physical performance measures. This study helps to inform the association between the FMS and common clinical measures of power, balance, flexibility, and self-reported function.
