Abstract

This article identifies and analyzes factual information about older people in the context of leisure service program planning. The data which are examined focus on older peoples shared history and present circumstances. From this, the targeted population's leisure related needs are identified and implications for program development are discussed. The value of the information which is presented lies in its usefulness as a framework for the relevant assessment of individual program participants. Therefore, this framework is not viewed as an end, but a means for assisting program planners with the development of leisure service program plans that are based on the unique needs of the individual.
