Abstract

Finding activities that male residents will enjoy can be very challenging. Men often express little interest in attending activity programs. To encourage their participation, activity professionals need to understand some of the common life experiences of elderly male residents. Activity assessments should be carefully analyzed to design programming that meets their individualized interests. Using this information, activity staff can design a variety of creative, interesting, and meaningful programs that reflect these residents' unique backgrounds and needs.
