Abstract

Falls are a common problem for older persons and result in significant mortality and morbidity. Most are caused by multiple intrinsic and extrinsic factors that have cumulative effects on mobility. Preventive interventions are aimed, first, at identifying and assessing fall risk and, second, at attempting to reduce those risks.
