Subjective complaints that are actually disabling are ratable factors in industrial injury cases in California. The responsibility of evaluating these complaints with fairness to the patient and employer rests with the examining physician. Full confidence in the physician's integrity minimizes the subjective complaint problem. The importance of good physician-patient relationship is not always recognized.
