Abstract

In institutions where the necessary personnel are available and a high level of motivation can be cultivated, regular ambulation for most elderly patients can be accomplished with relative ease and unmatched cost-effectiveness. Ambulation has a positive effect on the elderly patient's desire to live. The activity provides both emotional and physiologic benefits.
