Abstract

Automobile accidents are the most frequent cause of injury and death among young children. The number of injuries or deaths could be decreased by the use of child restraints. Counseling parents about car safety has a positive effect on increasing the use of restraints. Other important factors include passive protection, such as interior design and air bags, appropriate laws for enforcement of proper use and adequate safety testing of existing restraints.
