Reason: It has come to the attention of the Editors of International Journal of Law, Crime and Justice (previously, International Journal of the Sociology of Law) that large parts of the main text are identical to research which was made available on the Internet by Kevin T. McGuire (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), prior to submission to International Journal of the Sociology of Law, and which was subsequently published by Kevin T. McGuire as “The Institutionalization of the U.S. Supreme Court” in Political Analysis 2004, 12:128–142.
