Abstract

Developed and tested the Fear of Rape Scale. 511 female college students (aged 16-59 yrs) provided initial data for item analysis. The resulting scale comprised 36 items and was administered to 167 female college students (aged 16-53 yrs). Psychometric analysis supported the the reliability and construct validity of the scale. Factors of marital status, living arrangements, and age did not predict fear of rape. Longer length of residence in the neighborhood, however, was related to a lesser fear of rape. Additionally, the scale appeared to be sensitive to the types of fears experienced by previously victimized women. (French abstract) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2019 APA, all rights reserved)
