Abstract

Discusses the notion of ambivalence in the psychoanalytic theories of Freud and E. Bleuler, with emphasis on its structural differences in schizophrenia and neurosis. Simultaneity as a means of expression, the absence of mutual influence between verbalizations, and impulse development are examined with regard to the case of a suicidal 34-yr-old woman with major depression.
