Abstract

Describes a clinical approach to the psychopathology of children mourning the death of their father, based on the case of a 7.5-yr-old boy whose father had committed suicide several weeks before. Mourning in this case was associated with writing difficulty, which was interpreted in relation to the father's suicide note. The theories of Freud and J. Lacan on separation, loss, the Oedipus complex, and unconscious fantasies are discussed. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
