Abstract

The author describes a special journey of commitment to self and how this journey affected both her personal life and her growth as a therapist dedicated to helping women clients. Her experiences as a "later-in-life" college student and novice professional became the catalysts for the development of a personal philosophy of life which acknowledges women's unique psychology. A connection is made between the author's personal life experiences and the concerns and issues presented by her women clients.
