Abstract

Studied the utility of a psychological autopsy technique among relatives and friends of suicide victims in determining the psychological profile of suicide victims. Human Ss: 44 male and female Italian adolescents and adults (aged 15-39 yrs) (suicide). Data on sociodemographic variables, clinical characteristics, and psychological factors were obtained from patient records and from telephone interviews with suicide victims' family members and friends. The results were evaluated according to age, sex, family dynamics, family marital status, sibling relationships, personality variables, risk-seeking behavior, psychiatric history, drug use, history of previous suicide attempts, and problems in obtaining psychological data from family members and friends.
