Abstract

The economic situation for the population of North Ossetia-Alania has drastically deteriorated in the 90s, which primarily affected the population well-being. Birth rates decreased and mortality increased, because of increased number of suicides and murders and decrease of mean expected life-span.

RESULTS of analysis indicate common regularities and trends and differences between the medical demographic processes in North Ossetia-Alania and the entire Russian Federation; these common and individual features should be taken into consideration when organizing and planning the activity of public health system and institutions.
