Abstract

Forty depressed patients were studied, twenty of them [all females] presented with typical major depression, and the other twenty patients [19 females and one male] presented with atypical depression. A statistical significant increase of serum prolactin level was found in major depressives when compared to both atypical depressives and control groups [twenty females]. A positive correlation was found between the number of recurrences and serum prolactin levels in both depressive groups
