Abstract

A case of neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) coincided with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), several days after discontinuing thiothixene. The occurrence of NMS in this setting also raised the possibility of malignant hyperthermia due to succinylcholine administered during ECT. Observations relevant to the differential diagnosis are discussed.
