Abstract

A study of 3127 completed suicides in West Berlin from 1981 to 1985 revealed strong sex differences and smaller differences by age and marital status. Precipitating factors appeared to be unrelated to the choice of method for suicide, but psychiatric and medical history was associated with choice of method.
