Abstract

Adolescent suicide is an important research item since it has increased in the last decades. This paper reviews the current epidemiological approach of this issue in Mexico and other countries, taking the adolescent population as a guide to understand the impact of this problem. Some risk factors: psychiatric disorders, previous suicide behavior, alcohol and drug use are mentioned. A documented review of studies about suicide in Mexico is given. Finally, the authors expose some present findings and reflections to consider for investigating this problem under the gender psycho-social perspective like an analysis axis.
