Abstract

Various epidemiological investigations have demonstrated an increase in attempted suicide in teen-agers of both sexes over the last few years. These suicidal attempts are evidence of the cracks which weaken the subject's identity, fragmenting the self, the arrogant continuity of identity, aud therefore the feeling of self-hood which is linked to the body. Here, during periods of crisis when extreme experiences confront the subject, the teen-ager going through a depressive phase attempts to solve his or her intrapsychic conflicts by a suicidal acting out. The clinical examples proposed herein illustrate the mournful tone of the suicidal act, which inaugurates a mutation. They also lead to a proposed psychoclinical therapeutic strategy.
