Abstract

Psychotherapy with manic-depressives, whether individually or in groups, has not had the interest of most psychotherapists. Apart from the suicide risk and the manic chaos, the reasons for this seem to lie in the dynamics and special mode of communication of the manic-depressive and in the personality and training of the psychotherapist. Awareness of this combination of factors is essential in understanding the problems of interaction between the manic-depressive and the therapist. © 1994, Sage Publications. All rights reserved.
