Abstract

The Koran, the Holy book of Moslems, is rich in references to the effect of Islamic ethics on psychiatry. This article illustrates hero the daily program of the Moslemms protects them against neurotic and psychotic diseases. It speaks about choosing the suitable consort, early marriage after psychological maturity, prohibition of sin, adultery, and extreme behavior, care of pregnant women, breast feeding, equal treatment to children, playing with them, and care for the elderly. The article discusses the effect of the Islamic daily program and how it prevents mental illness. It emphasizes early rising, respect for the psychiatric teams, active prayer at the proper time and in the mosques, confessing one's sins, belief in God's care, and learning about human nature and society. It also focuses on the role of Islamic ethics in combating psychosocial problems. It speaks about the characteristics of the psychiatric team.
