Abstract

The subject of this project is the study of attempted suicides by adolescents treated in the intensive care unit of the CHG of Rodez. Less important in terms of numbers (approximately 45 cases per year) than in other departements, they are, however, no less worrying in that they often reveal profound weaknesses in the development of the personality of the subject, and, in the absence of treatment, the prognosis in many of these cases is dismat. The proposed programme is carried out by a Child Guidance team operating within the CHG of Rodez and is based on the immediate interaction between the suicidal adolescent and his family. Three clinical studies indicate the type of situations encountered as well as the limitations of our treatment.
