Abstract

This review focuses on depression and anxiety. Recent research relating to post-mortem findings in depression, and metabolic changes and alterations in receptor function are discussed, as well as studies examining the problems of prophylaxis. Investigations of benzodiazepine withdrawal and of specific receptor antagonists in anxious patients are described.
