Abstract

The phenol‐utilizing thermophile Bacillus stearothermophilus BR219 was mutagenized with transposon Tn916 introduced on a suicide plasmid using electroporation. The resulting mutant BR321 carried Tn916 integrated in the resident plasmid pGGO1 and accumulated catechol throughout the growth phase.
